History of Ian Wayne Dc Comics?

In 1983, while still in college, Ian Wayne began working for DC comics. His first published work appeared on the cover of Silver-Age hero The Flash. He worked steadily drawing covers and interior art for various titles, including Superman, Starman (starring Jack Knight), and JLA: Year One (with writer Len Wein).

When former DC Editor-in-Chief Jenette Kahn took over as Publishing Director, she brought a mandate to create an annual comic book event that would boost sales. At the time, most comics did not have specific year-long titles. Marvel Comics’ X-Men’s closest thing was The Hidden Years, which ran in their anthology series from 1982 to 1985.

Kahn’s idea was to use an ongoing series titled “Crisis on Infinite Earths” and create a year-long event. That would have a new miniseries spin out of it every two months. Her concept was extremely ambitious, but somehow DC managed to hit their deadlines. Crisis On Infinite Earths began in October 1985.
