When we saw this, Iron Man was still recovering from a shoulder injury after he first confronted Hulk and Bruce Banner on the Sanctum Santorum. And then, after his battle with Thanos, he used his nanotechnology to repair the damage in his shoulder.
How did the Russos make Captain America’s shield light?
When they came on board to direct Captain America: The First Avenger, the Russo brothers set out to make Steve Rogers’ signature shield a significant part of the movie. Not only was it a powerful weapon, but it also reflected his character.
The Russos worked with the visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic to make the shield feel like a living part of Rogers’ body. And ILM helped by creating new software that would allow them to illustrate how the shield was being affected by physics.
They then shot scenes where Rogers throws his shield at high speeds, to which the visual effects team added a CG shield that would spin and make rotational corrections.
Because of this attention to detail, Cap’s shield feels like an active part of the action rather than just a throwaway prop.
